Audio...

...from Dean's comments to reporters, mentioned in the previous post, available here. I can't quite decide if he was slightly irritated by the (my) "Beltway elite" question.

Jeremy - great job with this blog.

Like I said on Kathy's blog, you guys did some really fast, insightful writing.

Nice work getting all the relevant links in there, the audio too - great stuff!

By the way I was standing behind you when you asked Dean the question and he seemed slightly annoyed, but I think it was a good question. Many of the top-dog Democrats on the Hill distance themselves from Dean whenever they get the chance, while he's quite popular with the Democratic proletariat.

In fact, there was a woman sitting next to me who had come to the event just to hear Dean speak, because she was so moved by hearing him speak during his run for the presidential nomination in '04. I think she had anticipated he would be doing more of a campaign-style speech rather than the more straight-up taking-care-of-party-business event that it turned out to be, and she left a little disappointed.

Jeremy -

Dean does sound a little "snappy" on your sound bite. At least he didn't let out his primal-scream yell.

Thanks to both of you guys for checking this out, appreciate it. I was expecting more of a troop-rallying speech than what he gave, but I guess he was trying to send a "it's time to get back to work" message. It was funny, his demeanor while claiming he didn't worry about Beltway insider opinion of him seemed to indicate that he kinda does. At least a little.

Comment above from Jeremy, tho I guess that was kind of obvious.
